The Warm Homes Local Grant
If you're a lower-income homeowner or private renter, the Warm Homes Local Grant can fund free insulation, heating and renewables. This guide covers eligibility and how to apply through your council.
Last reviewed: August 2026
Who it's for
Lower-income owner-occupiers and private renters. It replaced the Great British Insulation Scheme (closed 31 March 2026) as the main insulation route from 2027.
What's covered
A package of measures up to around £30,000 per property — insulation, heating upgrades, heat pumps, solar — based on what your home needs to reach a good EPC.
How to apply
Through your local council, which checks eligibility and connects you with TrustMark-registered installers. Never pay an application fee.
